Lisa Farr

My Background

My name is Lisa Farr and I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing with eighteen years experience in marketing. Since qualifying as a professional coach in 2001, I have been helping small business owners to take their business to the next level.

The tools and techniques you will learn through coaching have all been tried and tested – they have the potential to transform your business and have already done this for others. My own experience of using these tools to build an international business resulted in it bringing in over £450,000 per year – and this was only working 3 days a week! This is just to show you what IS POSSIBLE!

My Work Experience

Since gaining my degree in Management with marketing from Manchester University, my marketing career has spanned working for several universities and colleges, as well as in the private sector and an environmental charity. I have been awarded as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. This is the highest level qualification of the leading body for marketing and business development world-wide.

After further training as a professional coach, I have been working in my own coaching practice since 2001, first in Brighton, then Bristol and now in Devon. I have also worked training other coaches as a Senior Associate with Life Coach UK Ltd.

My Approach

Unlike some other marketing coaches, I don’t just offer a standard formula which we apply to your business. I use my eighteen years experience in marketing to help you create a strategy that is totally tailored to suit your unique situation – both for you personally and your business.

I work in a holistic way and my passion is in supporting people to become more financially successful through doing what they love.

Richard Wilson

My Work Experience

My name is Richard Wilson and after an aborted early career in banking (being on the receiving end of an armed raid by masked robbers in 1972) I got a job in sales and within 2 years was promoted to UK Sales Manager for a large Glasgow Import & Export firm during which time I built up a large UK-wide agency network. After moving to Plymouth in 1979 I became Sales Manager with a packaging company before returning to Scotland to work for an international leadership & management training consultancy as their Sales & Marketing Manager. I then worked for UKs largest, distance learning based, computer training company, winning their 'Top Sales Executive' prize in my second month there.

The next 20 years were spent in the UK Higher Education sector. Firstly, in 1988 creating and managing a successful marketing unit within Glasgow University, a post which I made self-financing within the first year, which it remained until I left ten years later. I became along the way both a Student Careers and Recruitment Specialist (finding work placements and jobs and recruiting from overseas) and a Business Development Specialist (liaising between academia and business/industry). In this latter role in 1991 I established a 40 member 'Blue-Chip' fee-paying Industry Association and used this as the keystone for the Computing Science Department's industry liaison strategy from then until the present. In terms of revenue generation I brought in about £70k p.a. on average between 1988-1998, mostly through organising 'Masters' Level computing training courses. For the last ten years (1999-2009) I have worked (and lived) in a variety of places (Brighton, Sheffield, Bristol, Exeter) mostly as a self-employed Marketing Consultant specialising in the Higher Education (HE) sector. My contracts have been with universities, FE colleges, government agencies and the UK business and industry sectors, often working as a bridge across these boundaries. Much of this period has been spent helping SMEs (small to medium enterprises) to grow via accessing government funding streams, connection to the university sector via Knowledge Transfer Schemes, CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training courses, arranging Training Accreditation, student recruitment and work placements etc. Since returning to Devon, after a twenty three year gap, I have recently started advising and mentoring small business owners in the local area and helping them to expand in both a manageable and profitable way.

My Qualifications

It was during a period living in the West Country that, as a mature student, I gained a BSc (Hons) 2.1 Degree in Combined Studies from Plymouth Polytechnic now Plymouth University (1981-84). I majored in Sociology and also studied Psychology, Political Science, Statistics, Philosophy and Employment Law. On returning to Scotland I gained a Post Graduate Certificate in IT Management at the University of Glasgow (1987-88). Since 1992 I have been a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM), having gained their Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing (DipM) while working as a Marketing Manager in Glasgow and studying at college in the evenings.

My Approach

Using my 35 years spent in a variety of sales and marketing positions (many managing staff) coupled to some of the other areas in which I have gained both experience and some degree of expertise (business development, careers guidance, technology transfer, successfully writing funding bids, project management, counselling, coaching, mentoring) to help you develop a strategy that is totally tailored to suit your unique situation – both for you personally and for your business.
