Small Business Advertising
- Does It Work?
Is Small Business Advertising a Good Way to Get More Clients?
Of the many small business owners I've spoken with who have tried advertising, the vast majority have been disappointed with the results. Advertising can be a very fast way to spend your marketing budget and often without getting much, if any, additional business in return.
Good Return On Investment
I advise small businesses to focus on other less expensive ways of marketing themselves, which are much more likely to give a good return on investment. There are many cheaper and more effective ways to promote your business - if you would like some advice on this please click on the link

Should I Advertise At All?
For small businesses, advertising can be a waste of time and money, unless you are very clear on: • Your key marketing messages • Why clients buy from you It is usually advisable and more cost-effective to develop other marketing techniques first. That way you can find out which messages work best before you spend too much money. If you are thinking of advertising, it is a good idea to work out how many new clients you would need to get from it to make a profit after all costs have been deducted. Where to Advertise?
If you do decide to go ahead and try out advertising, one of the decisions is where to place your advert. You need to investigate how you can reach your potential clients and choose a publication which your target market reads.
How to Design Your Advert?
The best place to start is to decide what you would like your advert to achieve. Remember that as well as telling them about your service or product, you need to include a "Call to action". This is where you tell your potential client what you want them to do next as a result of reading your advert - for example whether to call you, claim a special offer or sign-up to something on your website.
